Inclusive Design
INCLUSIVE DESIGN
The diversity of skills increases as the population ages. Specifically in our territory, according to data from the authorities, people over 55 years of age will account for 46.5% of the population in 2031. Thus, with the aim of adapting environments, products and services to the capacities and needs of an increasingly diverse society, there is an inclusive design approach, understood from the DBZ as an opportunity for innovation.
As a result of the projects and doctoral theses carried out in this field, the DBZ has developed tools such as INKLUGI (2017), Elderpersonas (2017), Interfaccess (2021) that help to understand the needs derived from diversity and to quantify the degree of exclusion caused by products and services. In addition, these tools allow design decisions to be made by providing accessibility guidelines. Collaboration with interest groups such as associations of people with disabilities has been fundamental in the development of this line of research.
